Grey Waves ~ Faith/Void
I contributed some one-off hand-drawn sleeves for the limited artist version of a really nice 7" put out by People In A Position To Know. Two killer tunes from Grey Waves (Jesse Hughey and Eric Judy of Modest Mouse)! You can see the mixed results of my doodlings below. All ink on pastel. Do not rub on your face (only joking, I fixed them with some ancient, foul-smelling spray I found in a chest in the attic*).
One or two of these will have gone to other contributing artists, but PIAPTK have three of them for sale here, and the band are also selling through their bandcamp - perhaps they got one too? I dunno, but you could ask them...
Big thanks to Mike at PIAPTK for organising such a great project! I think there was an exhibition of the sleeves in Seattle too - top stuff.
* But perhaps don't rub them on your face anyway, just to be on the safe side.

Creeping Death From The Stars
Here's a fairly swiftish poster for a gig that is occurring this Saturday - the return of Ultramouse (er, you remember that, right?), and featuring Glasgow's Insect Heroes playing alongside Death By Raygun (over from Tokyo), and GGGHOST TOWNNN (up from Bournemouth). A night of noisy psycho garage and reach-for-the-stars banjotronica - should be a lot of fun! Here's the Facebook thingy: http://www.facebook.com/events/1392191907742793/

DJ Dream Caravan Club Country Update
I haven't posted much on here recently. I haven't been around. This is basically because I have spent the better part of the last year trying to source an affordable copy of the Teen Wolf soundtrack, to play at the Lost Map & Irregular Owl Movements Hallowe'en party, happening in Edinburgh tonight.
Although I have failed in this apparently simple goal, I did manage to get the Gremlins soundtrack quite cheap, and also a Laura Branigan 7", so you should definitely come along if you want to hear those (as well as a load of other DJs, and live sets from Tuff Love, Archie Bronson Outfit, Our Ladies of Sorrow, Operator, Insect Heroes, River Of Slime, and CARBS).
Aside from the '80s cheese, I'll also be heading down the cold wave/italo/booty bass route, going hard into a world of darkness. Please join me.

Dimensional Radiation
Electro, the only music that will survive the nuclear apocalypse, when all other sounds have long turned to radioactive dust... life after mutation. Out in the street, only fallout...
But we're getting ahead of ourselves. It's only 2054, and DJ Stingray, although now an old man, is still touring the world, hobbling patiently from one grimy basement club to another, pulling his records along in a tartan-fabric wheely-basket. All of the vinyl he played in his younger days is long out of print, and even well-worn copies of Drexciya's records now sell for trillions of poscreds.
His hearing eroded by years of headphone and PA abuse, Stingray now barely notices the hiss and crackle that blooms from his cherished vinyl like a complex coral. Neither does anyone else; as someone once said, life has surface noise. And some will know that other, stranger forms of noise flourish deep beneath the surface too, in those darker, less explored places, many leagues down. For the octogenarians nodding their heads to his sets, it's simply the birth of a new sound, the birth of new life.

Tilbage Til Havet
I designed a sleeve for a new Goodiepal cassette for Reckno, called Tilbage Til Havet. It's number 36 in his Audio Svar series, and is really quite amazing. The sleeve is a three-panel fold-out, you can see some pictures of it here, and check out the other new releases by AyGeeTee and Biographs too.
I had a lot of fun with this, what with the plasma ferns, and the crystallised pineapple drive, and the flaming teapot etc. I did a quick little Reckno/Havet logo for it too, which you can see bigger below.

Flower-Corsano Duo
Here's a poster I gone and done for Braw Gigs' upcoming show with Flower-Corsano Duo, Ashley Paul, and Acrid Lactations in Edinburgh - really looking forward to this one!
Some of the colours seem to be a bit too hot for the internet to handle, despite some tweaking in that respect. Maybe I need to recalibrate my monitor, or my eyes; probably both.

Ice Cold In Anster
The Anstruther Improvements Association have asked a bunch of folk (including some non-locally famous!) to decorate postcards, which will be auctioned this Friday, as part of the Dreel Halls inaugural celebrations. Mine is dedicated to the many rough-and-ready ice-cream-licking bikers that haunt the Anster seafront. The money raised will go towards Phase II of the AIA's ambitious project to renovate and repurpose the newly-christened Dreel Halls.
You can have a look at (and even make remote bids for) postcards here, and there's a Facebook thing here detailing the whole weekend of events!

Yorkston ☠ Thorne ☠ Khan
James Yorkston is about to head off on the road in an uncompromising power trio, accompanied by the formidable talents of Jon Thorne and Suhail Yusuf Khan. Luckily, I got to do the poster, which you can see above!
I was quite into this swan lady version, but after some thought it was decided that since there was no certainty of any swan ladies, much less haunted brackish pools, at any of the tour dates (Cambo perhaps excepted), a more literal poster design might be required. This led to the second design, below.
James was quite keen to add some flames at this stage, an opportunity which I politely declined. Not one to have his vision stifled quite so easily, he then passed the design to a nice chap called Struan at the Cambo estate, who made this gnarly version for their Hallowe'en installment this week.
If you're lucky enough to have heard the recent collaborative "Dewar's Experimental Batch Number 26" album (which this tour is an extension of), then you'll know that these shows promise to be a real treat. And support on all dates from Lisa O'Neill too. Maybe see some folk at the Edinburgh show this Friday (featuring added Cairn String Quartet).

Havet \ Prunes Home Movie
Here's a little home movie commercial for the Goodiepal/Flower Farmer split tape on Reckno, made on a hot, foggy day last week. The audio is a small excerpt of a Flower Farmer tune made with random samples of Goodiepal's Havet. Which is not on the tape. But you can still buy that anyway, either direct from Reckno, or from Boomkat (who also have the download of the FF side), or Norman.
You can hear a track from the FF side in the post below, and here's a video of the whole of Goodiepal's 1990 ambient opus Havet (which sounds super lush on cassette)!

The Flower Farmer Prunes...
This week finally sees the release of Flower Farmer's "Prunes". The good folk at Reckno have waited almost three years whilst Florian tried to carefully prune the original improvisations down to a listenable length, without damaging the essential character of the original floral arrangements, or the essential character of his brain.
The result is over 40 minutes of relentless electronic foam, suitable for late night f-zero drives and midday sun-touched ferry rides.
By magical serendipity, the album is presented as a split cassette release, with the other side taken up by Goodiepal's early '90s ambient opus "Havet". Incroyable! I handled the artwork for both sides (reversible sleeve!), and had a lot of fun with it.
You can hear the whole thing and order the cassette over at the Reckno bandcamp page. They've also released a new tape by Campbell Kneale's Our Love Will Destroy The World this week, just in time for the summer. It makes me want to go to the beach - highly recommended.
Here's the final track from Prunes...
Florian is occasionally sending in tunes from his current Miniatures project, so fans can expect to hear that completed c. 2016.
